Or

Before we start I want to apologize. I’ve been ill as of late and haven’t been as diligent as I should have been. I missed writing last week and I was convicted of giving in to the sin of laziness. I can feel sick and still share my studies. I beg your forgiveness and thank you for it.
It’s interesting how we downplay the reason Jesus came. We all do it. We often make it just about us. Well I’ve got good news for all of us. It is just about us but it is not just about us too. Yeah! I know, bad grammar. I should use a word like either there not too. But that’s it, isn’t it? Either isn’t correct either. It is both just about us and not just about us.
That’s the wonderful thing about God. That works. He can be there just for you and there just for everything else at the same time. I may camp in these verses for a bit but I’m not sure yet. I will say that I want to start with a simple but hard to wrap your mind around fact. Let’s look.
Mark 1:32-34 CSB
[32] When evening came, after the sun had set, they brought to him all those who were sick and demon-possessed. [33] The whole town was assembled at the door, [34] and he healed many who were sick with various diseases and drove out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
Simple observations.
Vs.32 They brought him (all). That’s interesting. So from the writer’s perspective all was what was in his direct influence. Essentially what he could access. That forces me to ask the question. Why did Jesus come? Is my perspective right?
Vs.33 The (whole) town. That’s interesting too. That also forces me to ask the question. Why did Jesus come? Is my perspective right?
Vs.34 He healed (many). In previous blogs we learned that the very being of Jesus heals because of who he is. His touch is healing because sickness is a direct effect of the fall of man and He is not in the group of the fallen. His touch corrects the effects of the fall. Hence sickness is healed at his touch. That doesn’t mean that the healed can’t become victims of the fall again but that at the moment of the touch the fall is corrected. As a matter of fact those touched by Jesus are unfortunately destined to fall again because of our fallen nature, but we know the cure. The touch of Jesus. Also because of the fall only many were healed. Because of the fall some will choose to avoid the touch of Jesus. That blows my mind. “I have the cure.” “No that’s alright, thanks.” I mean, seriously. What?
Vs.34 They (knew) Him. Once again an interesting thought. The demons know exactly who He is. Do I? I’m still learning. It’s interesting to be envious of a demon’s knowledge of the King.
Conclusion?
My perspective is too small and also not as close to the individual as it should be. My influence or what I can reach. Jesus’s perspective, everything and everyone but also the individual. My perspective obviously needs work. Lastly, I need to keep asking myself. Do I (know) Jesus.
Jesus came to save you. Jesus came to save the world.
John 3:16-18 CSB
[16] For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. [18] Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.
The whole world, everyone and anyone. Those two words both contain one. One is just as important to Jesus as all.
Love in Christ,
Colby
