Mark 1:32 CSB
[32] When evening came, after the sun had set, they brought to him all those who were sick and demon-possessed.
How different things have become. The world is a broken place. That’s the thing with anything broken. Time does it no favors. Without intervention a broken bone will likely heal wrong or ache for life. When your car breaks down you call a mechanic or it remains where it is. If your plumbing leaks it will continue until someone intervenes. Often if the broken is left alone it will get worse.
This routine of calling others is ingrained in us from youth. It begins small and grows as we do. A toddler falls and cries, then mom comes running. The toddler knows how to get moms attention without even thinking of it. When we’re a little older maybe we wreck our bike. A few scrapes and we hobble home. Mom again patches us up or maybe big brother or sister. Still yet, when we’re just a bit older maybe we have our first car accident. A helpful police officer takes us home while our car is towed or perhaps it’s an unfortunate ambulance ride to the E.R. Later in life maybe we’ve bought our own home and a storm knocks out the electricity. We call the Electric Company.
The point is that we almost always call on someone in some way. The world is broken and so are we. Broken to the point that we’ve forgotten, haven’t been taught, or maybe ignored what the disciples in Mark 1:32 learned quickly. They brought everyone to Jesus.
Even Christians who talk to Him every day often forget to talk to him in the most important times. I’m not saying we shouldn’t seek help from those around us. We absolutely must, for they were provided by Him. I’m saying we should not only seek them. So often we forget the One who can fix all things. The One who made the mother, the father, brother, sister, policeman, EMT, plumber, mechanic, the electrician, and even the physician.
Who are we bringing our broken to?
Are we only bringing our broken to them?
Matthew 6:33 CSB
[33] But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
Love in Christ,
