Who are We?

Every person on this video had the Gospel shared with them somehow!  Was it you?

Who are we?  As Christians I mean.  Think about that for a minute.  How often do you share your faith?  With whom?  Yes we Christians need to hear the Gospel too.  If I’m honest though… The one I hear the Gospel from most is me and it’s not because I’m sharing, it’s because I’m thinking about it.

That is not who we are called to be.  I’m convicted and heartbroken over this.  Let’s take a look.

Mark 2:13-14 CSB
[13] Jesus went out again beside the sea. The whole crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. [14] Then, passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me,” and he got up and followed him.

So as we see Jesus move we see Jesus doing what He does.  He’s teaching.  Jesus is giving Jesus.  Then He sees Levi the tax collector.  Levi is most likely who we know as Matthew.

Matthew 9:9 CSB
[9] As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me,” and he got up and followed him.

As a tax collector Levi would have been reviled as someone who took advantage of their fellow Jews, often paddling his pockets with the hard earned money of his people through extortionate means.

Yet Jesus called for him, Levi; to follow Him, Jesus; anyway, and Levi does.

Who are we reaching out to?

How often are we reaching out?

The only difference between Christians and Non-Christians is that Christians are saved by Grace.  Grace…. Unmerited favor.  We did nothing to earn it.  We only believe in the One giving it.  We’re supposed to be like Him.

1 Peter 2:21 CSB
[21] For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Romans 8:29 CSB
[29] For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

If that’s true… Should we not be talking to those who are not Christians more about Christianity?

That’s what Jesus does.

I will ask again.

Who are we?

How often do we share our faith?

With whom?

Jesus never stops giving Jesus!

Why do we?

Who are we?

Me, I’m a sinner saved by Grace.  My cardboard testimony would take a refrigerator box and still be incomplete.  I’m guilty of it all.  By God’s Grace I’m saved.

I resolve right now to share that more.  Will you?  Don’t wait for the tears to stop.  It’s unlikely that they will for long with His Grace on your mind.

Love in Christ,

Colby
