How long has it been since you really reached for Jesus?

Have you ever been to a concert or maybe a premier where maybe your favorite singer or actor attended.  Did you try to get an autograph or picture with them.  Maybe you bought the tee shirt or a signed copy of their book.  I admit I’m not really sure what that’s like.  I’ve never been enamored with people.  I love them but don’t always like them.  I want to tell them the Gospel.  To tell my story.  Sure I like some actors and I like some music artists.  But I’ve never felt the need to have an autograph, picture or buy the accompanying merchandise.  That has always been true with the exception of 1 person.  I want to reach out to Jesus every chance I get.  I don’t want an autograph and I don’t want a picture or tee shirt.  His personal touch is all over His holy scriptures so my copy seems to be signed.  Really though, I want Him.  The best part is that we can all have Him.  Let’s look at today’s text.

Mark 3:9-10 CSB
[9] Then he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, so that the crowd wouldn’t crush him. [10] Since he had healed many, all who had diseases were pressing toward him to touch him.

We saw in the last blog that people had been sharing what Jesus had done.  Everyone there wanted more.  They want to touch Jesus.  Let’s face it.  If we were there we would want to touch Him too.  Since He healed many.

[All who had diseases were pressing toward Him to touch Him.]

We’ve all been there.  Maybe you’re there now.  Diseased that is.  Some of you are probably saying, wait Colby, I get wanting to touch Jesus, but I’m not diseased.

To that I say, aren’t you though?  To my shame, I know I am.

Romans 3:23 CSB
[23] For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;

Romans 3:10 CSB
[10] as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 CSB
[9] Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, [10] no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. [11] And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

We’re all diseased.  Sin is a disease.  We need healing for our sin disease.

Romans 6:23 CSB
[23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 3:16-18 CSB
[16] For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. [18] Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.

Jesus doesn’t just cure the sin disease.  He is the cure for the sin disease.

Most of the people in our text probably didn’t quite get that Jesus was the cure.  Most people in the crowd likely saw healing on a scale like never before and simply wanted to partake.  However I’m sure that some probably did put the pieces together.  They were reaching to worship thankfully for what Jesus had done and would do.

We’re on the other side of the cross.  We know what He did.  We know what He’s doing.  We know what He will do.

That’s why I want to reach out for Jesus every chance I get.  Worshipping thankfully.

How long has it been since you really reached out for Jesus?

Love in Christ,

Colby
